South African actress Kajal Bagwandeen has become a FOUR PAWS Ambassador
Durban born artist and rescue dog guardian Kajal Bagwandeen has become the first FOUR PAWS ambassador for animal welfare. Bagwandeen is an advocate of animal rescue adoptions, sustainable living, and environmental consciousness.
Bagwandeen says that “When FOUR PAWS South Africa approached me to be an Ambassador, I immediately said yes, as it aligns with many of my own values. I am eager to use this opportunity with FOUR PAWS to make more of us aware of the connection between animals, humans, and the land we collectively live off and share. This, together with highlighting the importance of animal welfare and raising awareness of the integral work being done by FOUR PAWS.”
Her love for animals, and passion to help animal welfare started at a very young age, so much so that she once aspired to be a veterinarian but chose to direct this passion in other ways. Bagwandeen has consciously encouraged those around her to adopt rather than shop as well as brought awareness to the negative impact of supporting any animal interaction facilities both locally and abroad.

Dethroned screening with filmmakers
Kajal was our host for the evening during the exclusive screening of Dethroned, an eye-opening documentary film exploring the intricate relationship between humanity and majestic big cats. Dethroned is a TERRA MATER STUDIOS, FOUR CORNERS FILM AND PHOTOGRAPHY production, in association with FOUR PAWS International. Kajal also skillfully hosted a lively Q & A session with the filmmakers following the screening.
Bring Animals To Parliament
FOUR PAWS Ambassador Kajal Bagwandeen was part of the first of its kind Bring Animals to Parliament gathering outside Parliament to hand over a Memorandum outlining FOUR PAWS South Africa's demands for improved animal welfare. Kajal gave a passionate speech highlight the #LiveKinder movement and the collective call for a world where animals are treated with respect, empathy and understanding.

A True Advocate of Animal Rescue Adoptions
A supporter of Adopt Don’t Shop and Responsible Pet Ownership, and an advocate of animal rescue adoptions, Kajal visited TEARS Animal Rescue in Cape Town to meet Falcon, Drax and Maximoff, three of the five #FromCageToCapeTown dogs who were rescued from the dog meat trade in Cambodia and brought to Cape Town in January.
