ways to #livekinder

What if we started living a little kinder?

This year we are encouraging everyone to #LiveKinder and tread a little lighter – especially when it comes to our relationship with animals. With a few small changes we can all #LiveKinder  - let’s be kinder in what we eat, kinder in what we do and kinder in how we treat animals and the planet. Every little action can have a huge impact, and collectively we have the power to protect animals and the planet. Whilst we all are still living with the fallout of COVID-19 we are becoming increasingly aware of the link between the way we treat animals and the planet, and the subsequent emergence of global pandemics. Over 75% of pandemics have come from animals, including wildlife and farmed animals. The message is clear - we need to change the way we live. Are you prepared to #LiveKinder?

These changes do not need to be big to make a significant impact. Even a few small steps in the right direction can, and will, make a big difference.

Leave a legacy

One of the easiest ways to ensure that animals are protected in years to come is to include FOUR PAWS South Africa as a beneficiary in your Will. By nominating FOUR PAWS Animal Welfare Foundation as a beneficiary in your will, you will gift animals a second chance, and a better quality of life, including at risk species, that will continue beyond your lifetime.

Animals are not entertainment

Please don’t support cruel animal exhibits or shows like circuses, performances with marine mammals or any kind of show that involves wild animals performing for human entertainment. There are animal free circuses to support in South Africa such as the Zip Zap Circus and many other animal free entertainment options.

If you see something, say something

Report any and all cruelty to your local SPCA. Find out where your closest one is here. The SPCA inspectorate are the correct people to contact, and the first port of call, in relation to cruelty and abuse of animals of all kinds (wild, domestic and farm).

Animals are not gifts

Dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters and mice are sentient beings and commitments that disrupt, change and greatly and influence your life. They must never be handed over as a gift unless there has been proper discussions and preparations made, and the decisions has been thoroughly thought through.
