Bucharest City Hall stops killings
The mayor of Bucharest stopped the killings following our action. He declared this in an interview given to the state agency "Agerpres": The city hall of Bucharest announced today the ceasing of the killings in the public dog pounds, following the Court of Appeal decision to asuspend the Methodological Norms of the killing law. Nevertheless, the mayor Sorin Oprescu stated that the Court decision is ”aberrant” and ”it will bring us back to the uncivilised times and to the dog bites”.
FOUR PAWS informs Romanian officials about suspension of norms
FOUR PAWS sent out today an official communication to the Romanian Government, the National Sanitarian Veterinarian Authority (ANSVSA), the City Hall of Bucharest and the stray dogs management authority of Bucharest (ASPA) to inform them about the suspension of the Methodological Norms of the killing law starting Friday, June 20, and about the legal consequences for those persons that are not complying with the Court decision. The official communication was also sent to all the regional branches of ANSVSA, to all the municipalities with dog pounds and too all the local services of dogs management.
