Legal situation in Europe
No wild animals in the circus - protest online now!
The legal fundamentals for the accommodating and keeping of animals in circuses do not exist in many countries or are fully insufficient.
Lack of binding regulations
At the EU level there are no concrete guidelines for the keeping of circus animals. For example in Germany there are only non-binding guidelines, which are far below the minimum standards placed on zoos. Due to these abysmal guidelines animal welfare interests are rarely taken into consideration and deficiencies are not punished.
Role Model Austria
VIER PFOTEN is therefore applying itself towards getting as many wild animals as possible placed on a prohibition list. Countries like Austria, Hungary, Sweden and Finland have already prohibited or limited the carrying of wild animals in circuses.
